Ann Hughes (owner) graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy in King of Prussia, PA in 2006 and opened Pro-Active Muscle Therapy as a single therapist business. Since that time, she has continually sought to expand her expertise through many hours of hands on work with her clients and many hours of continuing education including Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy, CranioFascial Therapy (formerly Brain Therapy), Upledger's Craniosacral therapy, Orthobionomy and more. Ann has an extensive background in working with the local Pennsylvania equestrian community. Her hobbies include horseback riding and spending time with her family. Ann spent 20 years as a volunteer in the field of K9 Search and Rescue, training four of her own search dogs, instructing new handlers, teaching specialized courses and holding certification testing for the National Association of Search and Rescue. In the Fall of 2014, Pro-Active Muscle Therapy was expanded to include another therapist, an office manager and a new, easily accessible location in a beautiful old school house in the heart of the Village of Nottingham, PA. Since then PAMT has grown to seven active therapists whose goals are to keep the surrounding community Active for Life!
Erin Tatum began working at Pro-Active Muscle Therapy in September of 2014 after graduating from the Cortiva Institute in King of Prussia. She has been a part of the Pro-Active team since their move to the Village of Nottingham two years ago and is an integral part of all Pro-Active Muscle Therapy endeavors. Erin specializes in Muscle Therapy, CranioSacral Therapy and the Hesch Method and has continued to enhance her education since joining PAMT. She is certified in Ortho-Bionomy, and Prenatal Massage and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. Erin enjoys working as a Massage Therapist because she is able to give relief to people with chronic pain, daily aches and other traumas that may have otherwise hindered their goals. Her passion is helping people live a healthy pain free life while personally maintaining a sense of humor throughout the journey. In her free time Erin enjoys spending time with her son, Mason, as well as family and friends. She has a zest for life, a dedication to music and loves to be outdoors and active in any season.
Shauna Miller graduated from college with a degree in Biology in 1999. After graduating, she worked at a vet clinic. She attended massage therapy school at Deep Muscle Therapy and graduated in 2001. Her focus at school included integrative massage with emphasis in Swedish massage, deep tissue and neuromuscular therapy and remedial massage. She decided to grow her work through 2006 by working on friends and family. In 2006, Shauna took a 250 hour course that focused on trigger point work under renowned Dr. Janet Travell, M.D. and myofascial techniques. This additional focus gave Shauna the skills and confidence to work in the industry. She has worked in the spa industry for 10 years, and has always kept the integrative approach while working with her clients. In addition, she has experience and is certificated in the following techniques: nurturing the mother, prenatal massage, orthopedic massage, reflexology, myofascial mobilization and various shoulder and neck specialties. Shauna enjoys being a massage therapist because she believes pain should not be an everyday occurrance.
